OpenAI: 50 million people in Brazil use ChatGPT every month
50 million people in Brazil use ChatGPT every month, twice as many as a year ago, according to OpenAI, which opened its first Latin American office in São Paulo. Enterprise licenses grew fivefold. Inside companies, adoption is harder: procurement, legal, data residency and an internal owner for the rollout.
50 million people in Brazil use ChatGPT every month, twice as many as a year ago, and Portuguese is now the third most used language on the platform. OpenAI shared those figures in São Paulo, where it opened its first office in Latin America.
Enterprise licenses in Brazil also grew fivefold year over year.
I spent last year selling an AI platform into enterprise accounts in the United States and Latin America. Familiarity with AI definitely helps open doors, but enterprise adoption gets much more complicated after that. Procurement, legal, data residency and having someone internally responsible for the rollout all become part of the conversation.
That is also why having people on the ground matters, especially in a market the size of Brazil.
