PriceSmart plans to invest 100 million dollars to open its first three membership clubs in Chile, according to Emiliano Carrizo Ortiz in La Tercera.

The first club is planned for Mallplaza Los Dominicos in Santiago, opening in the first half of 2027. CEO David Price said the company has signed purchase promise agreements for the land of two further possible locations, and that it currently has about 20 employees working from a rented office.

Price also said that paying a membership fee for a service is no longer unfamiliar to people in Chile.

While working in the audio industry in Latin America, I sold more than $1 million through PriceSmart stores in one year. That experience, together with the years I lived in Chile, makes me think the format could work well there.
