Mexican startups raised $944 million in Q2 2026, up 131%
Mexican startups raised $944 million in the second quarter of 2026, up 131% from a year earlier, while Brazil raised $350 million, down 11%, according to Crunchbase. Most of it came from a few very large Mexico City deals. Funding cycles change quickly; distribution and local trust endure.
Crunchbase published its second quarter numbers for Latin America. Mexican startups raised 944 million dollars, up 131% from a year earlier, while Brazil raised 350 million and fell 11%. It is the third time in the past year that Mexico has come out ahead of Brazil.
Most of it comes from a few very large deals out of Mexico City, including 500 million for Clip and 405 million for Banco Plata, and 991 million of the regional total went into late stage rounds.
Two Mexican rounds against Brazil's quarter
Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Tencent and Allianz X all appear in the region's biggest rounds this year, while overall funding is still running at roughly 2019 levels.
In Latin America, funding cycles change quickly. The companies that endure are the ones that build distribution, earn local trust and execute consistently long after the headlines move on.
