Falabella becomes the fourth platform allowed to sell IKEA products

In brief

Falabella is the fourth platform in the world allowed to sell IKEA products, and the first in the Americas and Europe. The catalog is live in Chile, with Colombia next. Unlike the distribution agreements I worked on, here IKEA, not the local partner, handles logistics and after-sales service.

Until now, three platforms in the world had permission to sell IKEA products: Shopee in Indonesia, Tmall and JD in China. Falabella is the fourth, and the first in the Americas and Europe.

The catalog is live on Falabella online and on the app in Chile, and Colombia was announced next. First categories are storage, decoration, dining, bedroom, desks and living room. Orders can be picked up in a Falabella store.

In the distribution agreements I worked on across Latin America, the local partner handled after-sales service. This agreement is different: Falabella is the sales channel, while IKEA prepares and ships the orders and handles logistics and after-sales service.
