Argentine neobank Ualá closed a $197 million round led by Allianz X, with $20 million from Tether, at a $3.2 billion valuation, according to CoinDesk and Bloomberg. Investors are paying for reach: more than 11 million customers built market by market.
Ualá, the Argentine neobank, just closed a 197 million dollar round led by Allianz X, with Tether putting in 20 million. The deal values the company at 3.2 billion dollars.
Ualá already serves more than 11 million customers across Argentina, Mexico and Colombia. Three hard, very different markets, each built one at a time, and that is what a global insurer and a stablecoin issuer are paying for.
Capital coming into Latin America is buying access to a customer base that took years to assemble on the ground. Reach is the scarce asset here, and it usually ends up with whoever was willing to build it market by market.
In Latin America, products can be replicated. Distribution, trust, and local execution cannot. That is where long-term enterprise value is created.
