Hard discount in Latin America passed 13,500 stores in August, according to an update cited by Peru Retail on September 21. The end-of-2025 estimate, from Jaime Andrés Piedrahita Lopera of Expertos en Retail, counted 13,173 stores across 11 operators.
Four chains account for most of that number: Tiendas 3B in Mexico with 3,346 stores, D1 in Colombia with 2,750, Tiendas Neto in Mexico with 1,800 and Tiendas Mass in Peru with 1,500.
Store count alone does not tell you how much opportunity there is for branded products. The missing piece is how much space these chains actually give to outside brands.
